Terms and conditions
You can attach terms and conditions to a promotion to inform participants of any rules, restrictions, or legal conditions that govern the offer. When present, the terms are accessible from the promotion detail view in the app.
When to use them
Terms and conditions are not required for every promotion, but they are recommended in the following situations:
The promotion has constraints participants need to understand. If a promotion is only valid on certain days, during specific hours, above a minimum spend, or for a limited number of uses, documenting this clearly in the terms reduces the likelihood of confusion or complaints at the point of sale.
The promotion involves a legally relevant commitment. In some jurisdictions, promotional offers are subject to consumer protection regulations that require the conditions of the offer to be documented and accessible. If you are unsure whether this applies to your campaign, consult your legal advisor.
The promotion is distributed publicly via social links. When a promotion reaches participants outside the app through a shareable link, there is a higher chance that people unfamiliar with the program will engage with it. Clear terms help set expectations.
Content guidelines
There is no mandated format for the terms. A few recommendations:
- State the validity period explicitly, including start and end dates and any day or time restrictions.
- List any constraints in plain language -- for example, "Valid on transactions of €15 or more" rather than referencing system configuration fields.
- Clarify the nature of the benefit: whether it is credited immediately or at a later date, whether it has an expiry, and how it can be redeemed.
- If the promotion is subject to a global redemption limit, mention that it is available while stocks or budget last.
- Include the business name and, if applicable, the Merchant name for Coalition programs.
