Item Scoped Reward
Item Scoped Reward is fully specified and will be released in an upcoming version of Spraed. The documentation below describes the intended behavior.
The Item Scoped Reward associates a flat benefit with a specific product or group of products. Rather than acting on the transaction as a whole, the benefit is calculated for each unit of the identified product present in the cart. Unrelated items in the same transaction are not affected -- they continue to earn benefits only according to the standard earning rules.
How it works
When a participant opts into an Item Scoped Reward and purchases one or more units of the identified product, the fixed benefit is applied once per unit purchased. The rest of the transaction is processed normally.
Example with a points program. A Merchant wants to drive sales of a specific wine label. They configure an Item Scoped Reward of 50 points per bottle, identifying the product by SKU. A customer opts into the promotion and purchases 3 bottles of that wine along with other items:
Base points on full transaction: [calculated normally from earning rules]
Item Scoped Reward: 3 bottles × 50 points = 150 additional points
Total credited: base points + 150 points
The 150 bonus points are credited in addition to whatever the customer would have earned on the entire transaction through the standard earning rules.
Identifying products
Products are identified in the system using one of three methods:
SKU is the product's unique code in the Merchant's catalog. This is the most precise option and targets a single, specific product variant.
Category targets all products belonging to a defined merchandise group. This is useful when you want to promote an entire range rather than a single item -- for example, all products in the "Organic" or "New arrivals" category.
Tag targets all products to which a custom label has been applied. Tags can span across categories and SKUs, giving you a flexible way to group unrelated products under a common promotional umbrella.
You select one identification method per promotion. If you need to apply the same reward to products identified by different methods, you can create separate promotions with overlapping validity periods.
Configuration
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Identification method | SKU, Category, or Tag |
| Identifier value | The specific SKU code, category name, or tag to match |
| Fixed value per unit | The benefit credited for each purchased unit of the identified product, expressed in the program's currency (euros for cashback, points, or stamps) |
When to use the Item Scoped Reward
The Item Scoped Reward is the most precise promotion tool available in Spraed. It is the right choice when you want to influence purchasing behavior at the product level rather than at the transaction level.
Good use cases:
- Launching a new product line by giving extra incentive on the first purchases.
- Clearing overstock on specific items by making them disproportionately rewarding.
- Promoting high-margin products without applying the discount broadly.
- Seasonal items where you want to concentrate benefit amplification on a narrow range.
Because the benefit scales with units purchased, customers who buy more of the identified product earn proportionally more -- making it a particularly effective tool for volume-driving campaigns.
