Stamps
A stamps program rewards members with a stamp for each qualifying visit or purchase. When they collect enough stamps, they earn a free product — no conversion rate, no catalog, no points to track.
How it works
You define the number of stamps required to complete a card (e.g. 10 stamps) and the reward unlocked at completion (e.g. a free coffee or a free item of your choice). Every qualifying transaction adds one stamp to the member's current card. When the card is complete, the reward is automatically unlocked and the member can claim it on their next visit.
The mechanic is intentionally simple. Members always know exactly where they stand: "I need 3 more stamps to get my free product." There is nothing to calculate.
When to use stamps
Stamps work best when:
- Repeat visits are the norm — the program is most effective when members come back regularly to the same location (cafés, bakeries, barbers, restaurants)
- The reward is tangible and immediate — a free product is easy to communicate and delivers clear, visible value
- Your audience is broad — stamps require no loyalty program literacy; even first-time loyalty participants understand them instantly
Stamps are less suited to coalition networks where members shop across many merchants infrequently, since accumulation happens too slowly to drive engagement.
Configuring a stamps program
When setting up a stamps program you define:
- Stamps per card — how many stamps are needed to complete a card
- Earning rule — one stamp per visit, per purchase, or per minimum spend threshold
- Reward — the product or benefit unlocked at card completion
- Card reset — whether a new card starts automatically after completion
